A DIFFERENT KIND OF DIALOGUE / HOW IT WORKS

Start with a question.
Stay for the understanding.

There is more to a person than a party label.

01 CHOOSE A TOPIC

Bring your perspective.

Choose an issue you care about and share where you stand. We look for a neighbor with a different view.

02 TALK AND LISTEN

Take time to understand.

Use thoughtful prompts to explore the experiences and values behind each other’s views.

03 FIND WHAT CONNECTS

Notice the common ground.

When you find something you both support, you can write it down together. Agreement is always your choice.

YOUR COMMON GROUND JOURNEY

Every conversation
can take you further.

Listening is a skill worth celebrating. As you build understanding with different neighbors, your journey can lead all the way to Common Ground Sage.

5 POINTS

Understanding counts.

In an eligible conversation, you each earn 5 Engagement points when you both confirm understanding.

MORE WAYS TO GROW

Keep the conversation going.

Progress also reflects different neighbors, topics, and later check-ins. You can earn follow-up points when you both reaffirm a shared statement later.

Agreement is always optional and does not add immediate points. A thoughtful conversation matters even when you disagree.

OUR APPROACH
RESPECT FIRST

A BETTER WAY TO DISAGREE

You don’t have to
think alike to listen.

Good conversations aren’t about winning someone over. They begin with the willingness to hear another person and explain what matters to you.

You can find shared values, understand a disagreement, or simply leave with a clearer picture of someone else’s view.

ROOM TO BE HUMAN / BUILT FOR CONVERSATION

A little more room
for a real exchange.

01

Private by design

Conversations start with pseudonyms. You choose what you share, and you can leave a conversation.

02

Practice first

Want to find your words? You can practice with an AI partner before talking with a person.

03

Respect matters

Conversation guidelines, reporting, and blocking help people set boundaries and take part with care.

Conversation partners can copy or screenshot messages. Safety reviewers may see reported or flagged content.
